When it comes to considering the property tax valuation for your home, the county will only consider comparable homes sold in 2024.

Typically, the appraisal district will classify a comparable home that has sold within the same subdivision with a similar build year & square footage.

The goal should be to get the assessed value as low as possible because that is how the county determines what you will pay in property taxes.

Travis County has assigned a taxable value of $348,616.

There were 12 on market comparable homes sold in the Gaston-Sheldon subdivision in 2024.

The average sales price for those 12 homes sold in 2024 is $342,208 with an average price per square foot of $199.12 & between a range of $290,000 - $386,000.

You can see the market analysis summary here: PDF Summary

There are 6 comparable homes that sold for less than your assessed value of $348,616.

To get the county to lower your assessed value you have to show them these comps & have them included in their assessment.

I've exported those comps from the MLS into a PDF form that you can get here: 1313 Tudor House Protest Comps

I believe you can get the tax valuation lower.

When you protest, you will be asked what you think the home is worth.

I would enter $318,750 because that is the average of the 6 comps that I've provided although, you can put whatever number you feel comfortable with.

You can also use a paid service to protest on your behalf with a company called Ownwell. There is no charge for them to file the protest but they will charge a percentage of whatever they can save you.
